The power of words, the magic of reading.

1..1 is dedicated to wisdom. The inspiration comes from the character of Sherazade, the heroine of "The Thousand and One Nights", who managed to enchant, keeping him in suspense, the man who wanted to kill her with 1001 stories. This story has fascinated entire generations who share the idea of the strength and power of words. The ingredients recall the East with colours, aromas and flavors. The main protagonist is Papyrus, the first writing instrument, which blends with the notes of ginger, elemi and red tea that reflect the patience and optimism of this woman who tells wonderful stories, night after night. The heart notes are rich thanks to the absolute of turmeric and saffron, two spices that had also been used to embellish the manuscripts and make them more precious.

The spices blend with a Turkish rose, soft and sensual, which gives charisma to the fragrance. The main character of the base notes is a skin accord because the papyri were kept in leather cylinders, called "capse", which protected them from external agents. The evolution of the fragrance needs its time because it is like when you start reading a book and you feel involved in the story from time to time, page after page. Writing and reading magically introduce you to a new, different world and through words allow you to make a fantastic journey, like the father of all Italian writers and writers Dante Alighieri. For this reason we wrote the first verses of "The Divine Comedy" on the box, a tribute to the most important imaginary journey and to our culture.

Everything started with Umberto Nobile, Massimo’s grandfather, a name that has always been synonymous with luxury fragrances. Since the early 30s he represented Nina Ricci perfumes and in 1942, at the height of the Second World War, he decided to open a perfumery for his wife in Rome. It became a family tradition: Massimo’s father did the same for his wife in Naples and also Massimo’s brother, who fell in love with a woman from tuscany, opened a perfumery for his wife.

Moved by love of beautiful things and by passion handed down from father to son, Massimo did something different. In 2004, when Acqua di Parma was acquired by LVMH group, he decided to create with his wife Stefania a brand that represented the Italian elegance worldwide. We’ve never followed trends: the main example of this is in 2011, when the western world of perfumery went crazy for agarwood, we launched La Danza delle Libellule, a vanilla perfume, that became our best seller worldwide. What is important is to keep our sober elegance, that can stand up over time, to meet our customers’ expectations. The first fragrance was Pontevecchio, created in 2004 and distributed in 2005, which marked the beginning of Nobile 1942’s in the new millennium.

We can proudly say that we are one of few companies producing and packaging by hand “in house” our fragrance products. We do this job with care and dedication: all the perfume bottles are filled one by one handily in our laboratory in Genova. In addition to the Italian ingredients, such as bergamot from Calabria and Iris from Florence, we purchase raw materials from where we know they offer the best quality.

But above all, all our ingredients respect high quality standards and the natural process of maceration. Italian excellence always captures our attention: we always look for new artists and artisans that create something unique. We use Damask silk from Lorsica, hand blown glass from Altare, silver filigree from Campo Ligure, Leather from Tuscany.... Our perfumes are masterpieces of Italian artisan work.
